How can hypnotherapy help with IBS?

IBS can often be stress triggered, hence hypnotherapy helps by enabling you to relax. Hypnotherapy also uses powerful visualisation techniques to imagine relief for your symptoms.

Helen has specialised training in hypnotherapy for IBS and is a member of the Hypnotherapy IBS Register. However before making an appointment it is important that you speak to your doctor in the first instance to get their diagnosis and advice on treatment.

How many sessions will it take?

Helen’s hypnotherapy programme for IBS is intense, it involves at least five or six sessions, and the client is expected to listen to special IBS hypnotherapy CD’s at least once a day. Contact Helen for further information.

IBS Research

Extensive research has shown that hypnosis treatment has many advantages, which makes it an attractive option for treating many IBS sufferers who have chronic and severe symptoms:

"It is one of the most successful treatment approaches for chronic IBS. The response rate to treatment is 80% and better in most published studies to date."

"The treatment often helps individuals who have failed to get improvements with other methods"

"It is a uniquely comfortable form of treatment; relaxing, easy and very enjoyable."

"It utilizes the healing power of the person's own mind, and a healthy mind and healthy body go hand in hand."

"The beneficial effects of the treatment last long after the end of the course of treatment. According to research, individuals who improve from hypnosis treatment for IBS can generally look forward to years of reduced bowel symptoms."
